A Few Things…

Knives and Razors

Are you going to shave hairs off your arm to test the sharpness of our work? We can almost certainly give you that kind of edge, if that is what you want. If you’re going to use your knife to slice tomatoes, we recommend having the edge micro-serrated. This is a process that creates microscopic serrations on the cutting edge of your knife, like a bread knife’s edge but invisible.

Bread knives have points along the cutting edge. These “prick” the hard surface of a loaf to begin the slice at the surface. Without them, you will have to use pressure to overcome the crust, squishing the bread in the process.

Tomatoes, green beans, and squash to name a few vegetables that also have hard skins (or crusts) can be difficult to cut with a straight razor. Sure, once you are through the skin they are easy, but there is a better way than using a straight razor; Micro-Serrations.

We can easily add micro-serrations to your favorite vegetable knife when we sharpen it, and it is free. Just let us know that you want your knife micro-serrated, and we will do it for you.

Micro-serrations are not so good for straight razors. If you’re going to shave your arms with your sharped blade, we can do that too.
